Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about using FireRisk Connect to find a fire risk assessment provider.
Do you carry out the fire risk assessment?
No. FireRisk Connect is a referral and matching service. The independent assessment provider is responsible for agreeing and carrying out the assessment. We do not perform, certify or guarantee any fire risk assessment.
How much does a fire risk assessment cost?
Costs depend on the premises, complexity, occupancy, location and scope. Typical ranges in the Midlands are £150–£300 for small premises and £300–£1,500+ for larger or more complex sites. The provider will confirm the actual quote after understanding your requirements. See our pricing guide for more detail.
Who is responsible for fire safety?
In England and Wales, the responsible person must ensure a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is carried out and kept under review. Using a referral service does not transfer that duty. You remain responsible for ensuring the assessment is completed and acted upon.
How do you choose providers?
We aim to match enquiries with providers who have relevant experience for the premises type, cover the geographic area, and have appropriate insurance and qualifications. We do not endorse or certify any provider — you should carry out your own due diligence before engaging them.
What areas do you cover?
We focus on the Midlands — including Birmingham, Coventry, Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Stoke-on-Trent, Northampton, Wolverhampton and surrounding areas. We may be able to help outside the Midlands too. See our coverage areas →
How long does the process take?
After you submit an enquiry, we aim to match you with a provider promptly. The provider will then contact you to arrange the assessment. The assessment itself typically takes a few hours on-site, with the report delivered within a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the provider and premises complexity.
How often should a fire risk assessment be reviewed?
Fire risk assessments should be reviewed regularly — typically annually, or sooner if there are significant changes to the premises, occupancy, or layout. Your provider can advise on a suitable review schedule.
What information do I need to provide?
The enquiry form asks for your name, business name, email, phone, site postcode, premises type, approximate size, timing and any additional details. The more accurate the information, the better the match and the more precise the quote.
Is my data safe?
We only use your enquiry data to match you with a provider and share relevant details with them. We do not sell your data or use it for unrelated marketing. See our privacy notice for full details.
Do you offer security services as well as fire risk assessments?
Yes. FireRisk Connect can connect you with independent security specialists for intruder alarms, CCTV and access control — for new installations, upgrades or maintenance contracts. Use the Service needed field on the enquiry form to tell us what you're looking for.
Can I get a combined fire and security package?
Yes. Select "Fire & security combined" on the enquiry form and we'll help match you with a provider who can cover both your fire risk assessment and security installation or maintenance needs.
Who carries out the security installation and monitoring?
The independent security provider does. FireRisk Connect is a referral and matching service. The provider agrees scope, equipment, price and maintenance terms directly with you, and carries out the installation and any monitoring.
